Analysis

Disappointing this son of Scat Daddy couldn’t win last year but won’t have to 100% here, plenty of experience and seems versatile ground wise.

Smart novice form earlier in the season, including a C&D win. 3rd that day now rated in the 140’s.

Aurora Eclipse silk

Aurora Eclipse

Analysis
  • EWD

AURORA ECLIPSE is dropping down the handicap but finally gets the ground she loves this afternoon and wont get get many better chances off her new mark, dropped five pounds after her last effort and ought to hit a place at least at a double figure price. Guessthebill is an interesting dark horse as is Hee Haw in first-time cheekpieces, but hopefully they are only playing for the places today.

Count Simon silk

Count Simon

Analysis
  • WA

This should deservedly go to COUNT SIMON, who has been hugely consistent this winter without managing to poke his head in front. He ran a cracking race in a competitive handicap at Naas last time and on these terms, he is certainly the one to beat for a yard who do extremely well when sending their runners up North. Slippery Serpent was disappointing when last seen but would have strong claims if bouncing back from that, given his prior form this winter.

Charmant silk

Charmant

Analysis
  • NB
  • ND
  • WA

Winning three of his four starts over fences thus far, the progressive CHARMANT should have too much for his rivals on these terms. Granted, he concedes plenty of weight to his rivals, but there is good reason for that and he impressed by the way he jumped and travelled at Ayr earlier this month. He should prove very tough to beat and can get the better of Piton Pete, who was a useful novice over hurdles but has been a shade frustrating in this sphere.

Leagan Gaeilge silk

Leagan Gaeilge

Analysis
  • EVT

A tight looking event where a big run is anticipated from San Andreas but top weight looks enough to stop him leaving LEAGAN GAEILGE as the value call at a ridiculously tempting price. Lightly raced for trainer Jim Bolger she won first time out on similar ground and with more to come with experience,  the bookmakers may well have the odds horribly wrong.

Yulong Gold Fairy silk

Yulong Gold Fairy

Analysis
  • NAP
  • ND
  • WA

YULONG GOLD FAIRY looks the class act in this line-up after a win in this class at Tipperary. Her best efforts include a decent fifth in the Irish 1000 Guineas last season behind class act Alpha Centauri and with the softer going today ideal,  she has a great chance of another victory today with Delphnia the main danger.

Diable De Sivola silk

Diable De Sivola

Analysis
  • MA

Ready preference is for DIABLE DE SIVOLA, who flew home on his latest start to finish a short-head second at Warwick. That was a very competitive race for the grade and he’s only two pounds higher today, able to drop in grade despite that. A repeat of that form will make him very difficult to beat, with potential improver Saintemilion and last time out winner Carcking Destiny looking next best.

16:10
Naas
Shatharaat silk

Shatharaat

Analysis
  • EWD

One of the most competitive races of the whole season this early in the year but one where we can fully expect a huge run from SHATHARAAT whose stable do particularly well at this track.  He ran too freely last time in a race best forgotten and looks particularly well weighted with the addition of a tongue tie an added bonus. Dangers abound  with Aussie Valentine and Karawaan two worthy of a mention in a race well worth watching if you get the chance.

Amedeo Modigliani silk

Amedeo Modigliani

Analysis
  • MA

We all know the record of Aidan O’Brien in all the top Irish races and AMEDEO MODIGLIANI looks likely to add to those statistics here. He caught the eye when running away with his maiden and although off the track for well over a year now they will have him as fit as they can get him and he should outclass the likes of Stellar Mass in this field.

Western Morning silk

Western Morning

Analysis
  • L15

Ericas Lad was a comfortable winner over slightly shorter here on Monday and needs respect despite a penalty, though preference is for WESTERN MORNING. He’s very lightly raced over fences, winning his chasing debut back in February and building on that with a close second at Taunton earlier this month. He is only two pounds higher today and with further improvement expected, he looks tough to beat.

17:10
Carlisle
Magic Of Milan silk

Magic Of Milan

Analysis
  • L15

The one who stands out is MAGIC OF MILAN, who made a very pleasing chasing debut when finishing second 2m 5f at this venue. She made plenty of late progress after being badly outpaced and stepping up to this distance should eke out plenty of improvement from this lightly raced six-year-old. She can take the victory and defeat Solid Strike, who got off the mark in the first-time cheekpieces and is still feasibly treated after a rise at the weights.

Georgeville silk

Georgeville

Analysis
  • L15

Not the easiest maiden to try and second guess with the obligatory strongly fancied Aidan O’Brien runner Ferretti looking quite beatable on his two-year-old form. His second here over a furlong shorter is perhaps the best on offer but he has had four starts now and others may improve past him. Dermot Weld’s once raced GEORGEVILLE caught the eye when third at Gowran Park in October just a length off the winner and he may have more to offer after a few months off with Son Of Beauty another expected to do better this season.

Exeter
Southfield Harvest silk

Southfield Harvest

Analysis
  • MA

Point winner Story Of Friends made a fairly encouraging rules debut when fifth at Warwick earlier this month and should be able to build on that. He’s considered, but this can go to SOUTHFIELD HARVEST, who is closely related to plenty of winners including Southfield Theatre and Southfield Vic. He’s from an extremely good jumping family, as you can see, and looks a very smart recruit to this sphere.

Fasola Tido silk

Fasola Tido

Analysis
  • MA

The overnight tissue suggests that Multifactorial will go of favourite here and the five-year-old won’t be far away judged on his numerous places, but he has failed to take his chances so far and the Willie Mullins trained FASOLA TIDO is worth one more chance in the circumstances and in receipt of her mare’s allowance. Her debit second was promising and she ran too badly to believe when only seventh at Punchestown but that was not her true running and she has a decent chance of getting off the mark this afternoon with Generator City taken to fill the minor placing.

14:40
Exeter
Ballybough Nora silk

Ballybough Nora

Analysis
  • PT

Preference is for BALLYBOUGH NORA, with Jeremy Scott’s winning pointer posting a very encouraging handicap debut over 2m 5f at Wincanton last month. An extra two furlongs will be right up her alley and off the same mark, she can get her head in front for the first time under Nick Scholfield. Stop The World makes his handicap debut up in trip and looks the most interesting danger alongside the consistent  Misty Bloom, though her stamina is a worry.

Choix Des Armes silk

Choix Des Armes

Analysis
  • PT

Esprit De Somoza scored at Taunton on his latest outing by a neck and he’s a very interesting contender despite a five-pound rise. He’s unlikely to be far away, but preference is for CHOIX DE ARMES, who had some good form last spring for this top yard. He was too free when needing his reappearance at Chepstow last time and with that under his belt, he should regain the progressive thread for his in-form trainer.

15:20

Cappuccino Man silk

Cappuccino Man

Analysis
  • PT

A competitive heat can go the way of CAPPUCCINO MAN, who is yet to strike in eleven hurdling starts, but he’s been banging on the door. He was beaten just a length at Fairyhouse two starts back and dropping back to this trip is very interesting, given he’s likely to be ridden aggressively by the impressing seven-pound claimer Danny Hand. British Art has claims on his best but does need to bounce back from a recent poor run at Fairyhouse.

15:30
Carlisle
Glenlora silk

Glenlora

Analysis
  • PT

This can go to GLENLORA, who has shown ability in three maiden/novice starts thus far and now makes her handicap debut off a very realistic mark. This isn’t the strongest race for the grade and with plenty of improvement expected for this easier task, she looks tough to beat. Avondhu Pearl is 0/17 overall, but her latest second at Sedgefield suggested her time was very near and she heads up the dangers as a result.

Out Sam silk

Out Sam

Analysis
  • PT

All the early money seems to have been for our suggestion OUT SAM who has some decent form regardless and is expected to do even better stepping back up to this stamina sapping trip. Trainer Gordon Elliott won this last season and will be expecting a repeat with the ten-year-old who may have too many gears for Danse Away who would be a danger if she gets this trip.

16:00
Carlisle
Du Soleil silk

Du Soleil

Analysis
  • PT

The one who stands out is DU SOLEIL, who was making his chasing debut when a very promising third at this venue back in October. He goes well fresh, so the break is of no concern, and stepping up in distance should spark plenty of progress from this lightly raced seven-year-old. He can take the victory for the in-form Venetia Williams yard and defeat Western Rules, who should bounce back from a recent disappointment.

16:20
Exeter
For Good Measure silk

For Good Measure

Analysis
  • PT

He’s not the easiest to catch right, but FOR GOOD MEASURE posted a promising run over timber this venue on his latest outing. He returns to the larger obstacles as a lightly raced sort in this sphere and he sits on a dangerous mark at present, placing off six pounds higher over timber previously. The yard is flying and with Richard Johnson booked, a big run looks on the cards. Fortunate George and Sandy Beach look the most likely challengers.

I'm An Izz Wizz silk

I'm An Izz Wizz

Analysis
  • PT

This looks as tight a handicap as you could wish for over a little shy of two and a half miles but I’M AN IZZ WHIZZ could be the one to be on as a course and distance winner. Hasn’t won for some time but looks very well handicapped now and with Adam Short good value for his three-pound claim he has a solid chance of seeing off both Slemish and Smoking Dixie who are the glaringly obvious dangers.

16:35
Carlisle
Sammy B silk

Sammy B

Analysis
  • PT

Royal Claret was a winner at Plumpton last time and still remains unexposed in handicaps, so she’s not discounted from going close again. That said, this can go to SAMMY B, who built on a seasonal return run when a very good third at Ayr on his latest outing. He can race off the same mark and remains lightly raced for his age, so there should be a bit more to come from him.

17:40
Carlisle
Portstorm silk

Portstorm

Analysis
  • PT

Equus Dancer has run well on both his bumper starts thus far and he’s been sent a very long way by Peter Bowen, who is likely expecting a big run. He does need to improve, however, and the more interesting angle is PORTSTORM. He belied his 50/1 odds when finishing a close-up third at Ayr on bumper debut and given the exciting form of the Ian Duncan yard in recent weeks, he should improve enough to land the spoils.
