Nostrum has always shown plenty of ability and connections have been very patient with him. Sir Michael Stoute’s colt was a Listed winner at three and the veteran handler is an expert at training older horses. This could be his year and it’ll be disappointing if he doesn’t come out on top here.
Arabian Crown went from strength to strength last year and was utterly dominant in the Group 3 Zetland Stakes at Newmarket. He already looks like a live Derby contender and will book his place at Epsom by getting the job done here.

Roaring Legend was second to a couple of useful juveniles in his first two starts over hurdles and was has therefore been a tad disappointing since. If his recent wind surgery does the trick, this is a good opportunity to get back on track.
Duffle Coat has failed to kick on since being a useful juvenile hurdler but has run some nice races in defeat in three starts over fences. This is probably his best opportunity for a while and it’ll be a surprise if he doesn’t return to winning ways here.

Good winner over 7f at Newcastle in September, and was only beaten a length there on his return in February. Was heavily backed at Southwell last time but raced very keenly. Worth another chance back on turf and was only beaten two lengths off 4lb higher when fourth here over 6f last June.

Sports Coach has progressed with each of his three starts to date and makes his handicap debut here. An opening mark of 90 is no freebie but his profile suggests he can improve further and he’s expected to go close.
Old Gregorian got off the mark in good style at Kelso in October and was a fair third under a penalty at Carlisle when last seen. The switch to handicaps can facilitate plenty of improvement and 107 is a workable opening mark.
Cogitate won a Newbury novice last season and he easily got the better of the now 107-rated Boiling Point. Second to 2000 Guineas contender Night Raider when last seen, there’s scope for plenty of improvement off a mark of 93.
Houston Texas saw the 3m2f out well when winning at Carlisle back in November and that effort supports the idea that an extended 3m6f on a flat rack is viable. His current mark is just 3lb higher than his last winning one and an improved effort is expected.
