‘It’s going down to the wire’ – Harry Cobden and Sean Bowen’s best chances on Friday

The British Jump Jockeys’ Championship has been an interesting battle over the last few months. Harry Cobden and Sean Bowen have been fighting it out and Saturday is the final day of the season. Cobden holds a lead of six at time of writing and both jockeys have plenty of rides on Friday. It could go down to the wire so we’ve picked out each riders best two chances ahead of what should be an informative day. Harry Cobden (6 rides at Chepstow)

4.39 Chepstow

It’s a bit of a mixed bag for Harry Cobden at Chepstow but he definitely has a couple of strong chances to look forward to. Spring Gale has every chance of getting off the mark in the opener, having finished second in a course and distance novice last month. This wouldn’t appear to be the strongest maiden and victory could be on the cards.

8.15 Chepstow

Florencethemachine has more to give in handicap company and she was a fair third here over an extended 2m3f recently. She kept on nicely despite looking a little outpaced two out and should appreciate the step up in trip. The better ground may also help and it’s unlikely that we’ve seen the best of here just yet.

Sean Bowen (5 rides at Perth)

1.30 Perth

Olly Murphy is providing Bowen with four rides at Perth and Dominic’s Fault has to have a good chance in the opener. Victorious on his second start over hurdles at Leicester in January, he was a tad disappointing under a penalty at Lingfield next time. Switching to handicaps should suit and 107 looks like a workable opening mark.

Chasing Fire was very strong at the finish when second over an extended 2m5f at Kelso and the step up in trip is likely to help on that evidence. The ground is probably soft enough for him but he may just about get away with it. Reappearing off an unchanged mark here, he should be bang in the mix once again.
