Aidan O’Brien only had one winner on Day 1 but it wasn’t his strongest day in terms of runners. Thursday is a very different day however and it’s his for the taking. The record-breaking trainer has a really strong team of runners on Day 3 so we’ve combined three of the best into a treble.

Charles Darwin (5/4, betfred) could hardly have been more impressive in his last two starts and arrives here with a big reputation. The fact that the yard won the Coventry on Tuesday certainly bodes well and this horse could make it a juvenile double. He bolted up over 6f at Navan in April but showed an electric turn of foot to score at Naas over 5f next time, whilst giving plenty of weight away.
Illinois (13/8, betfred) needs to prove his stamina but everything about the four-year-old’s profile suggests it’ll be fine. Ballydoyle will be looking for a horse to fill the void left by Kyprios in this division and he could be the one. The trends suggest he’s one of two likely candidates here and he has a little bit of class to go with an abundance of stamina.
Trinity College (11/4, betfred) probably should have won at Epsom two starts ago but produced a much improved performance to finish fourth in the Prix du Jockey Club. There’s very little between him and third-place finisher Detain and it could be between these two again. It’s likely that he’ll want further in time but a reasonable test of stamina over this trip suits for now.
