Jockey bids to maintain 100% Ludlow record this season with three Monday chances 💯

Richie McLernon speaks to Jonjo O'Neill

A new week of racing kicks off with three meetings. It’s a pair of jumps meetings in the afternoon, with Ludlow and Taunton taking us through until the evening, where Wolverhampton will take over. We’ll have horse racing tips for all the action, including a NAP of the Day, Lucky 15 and double tips.

Ludlow has been a happy hunting ground for Sean Bowen this season. He’s ridden there on a pair of occasions, striking on both his chances. The Pembrokeshire-based jockey has three good looking chances on Monday, including two 10-1 shots. Find all the details and analysis about his mounts below!

1.15 Ludlow – Plyvine Caterers Handicap Chase

Placing on her last three starts, Legends Gold looks to have strong claims in this competitive handicap chase. She ended last season finishing second at Ffos Las, finding a runaway winner too strong, before a return third at Bangor. That form has worked out extremely well since and her latest third at Newbury came in Listed company.

She’s now back in handicaps and remains on a workable rating of 131. She’ll handle these conditions and given the way she travels through her races, this smaller field should play to her strengths.

2.15 Ludlow – Luke Watson Memorial “National Hunt” Maiden Hurdle

Costing 30,000 euros as a three-year-old, Wrong Shape Ball is a half-brother to three-time rules winner Davinia’s Tip and three point winners. He made an eye-catching debut at Catterick last month, finishing second behind a runaway winner who has subsequently bolted up again in a handicap.

Finishing well clear of the rest, he gave the distinct impression that stepping up in trip would help matters. He gets that here and the much stiffer test should bring out exponential improvement. Against some rivals who need to bounce back, he’s a solid each-way option at worst.

3.45 Ludlow – Watch On RacingTV Mares’ Open National Hunt Flat Race

His final chance comes on three-race maiden Dicey Rielly, who was well held on debut at Bangor in April 2021. She posted a better effort at Ffos Las on her next start, perhaps making her move too soon at Ffos Las on seasonal debut in November.

The effort that catches the eye is her most recent one at Bangor, however, where she finished third behind an impressive winner. She was only beaten length by the second and she now goes up against her own sex once again. She’ll certainly find this easier and needs a second look.
