Mill Street got off the mark over hurdles at the third time of asking at Sedgefield last month and he did it in good style. Switching to handicaps here, further progress seems likely and a 15lb age allowance combined with his jockey’s 7lb allowance should give him every chance.
Wilful won three of his four previous hurdles starts by wide margins and an opening mark of 125 looks pretty generous on that evidence. It could be a while before the handicapper catches up and further improvement is anticipated.
Kendelu has an excellent record at Taunton, winning two of his three starts. This is his first run for the best part of three years and he looks well treated on his best form so now is a good time to catch him, provided he’s sharp enough here.

Located just two miles south of Taunton, it’s the youngest National Hunt only venue in the country having opened in 1927. Due to the amount of licensed trainers in Somerset, it often attracts decent field sizes of a competitive nature.
Course: A short, oval shaped track with a right-handed circuit of a mile and a quarter. It’s a sharp course and has a very short run-in after the final bend so we don’t want our tips to be caught too far back rounding the home turn.
Feature Race: The Listed Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle at Taunton’s Christmas/New Year fixture is the venue’s feature contest that we have tips for. Maria’s Benefit won the 2017 renewal by a huge thirty lengths!
