Gamble Alert! Mare backed from 50-1 into 12-1 at Leopardstown 🚨

Supasundae Ryanair Hurdle

The markets are always well worth watching and this time of year is no different. There has been a mare in the opening race at Leopardstown this afternoon who has been backed from 50-1 into 12-1. The money has continued to come in all morning.

As well as Leopardstown, the ITV Racing cameras are also at Newbury and Doncaster today on another busy day of racing. We have horse racing tips for all cards on the site but for now, let’s dig deeper into this gamble.

12.00 Leopardstown – Adare Manor Opportunity Handicap Chase

The bottom weight in this competitive handicap chase is Raining Bird. She has only run in a single handicap over fences so far, an eye-catching fifth at Navan before Christmas. Soft ground was no issue for her over hurdles, her top RPR in that sphere coming when running on that ground at Wexford. Good ground is equally no concern for her with conditions starting to dry at Leopardstown.

Two of her three starts over fences have seen her produce an RPR of 100 which is a step up on her hurdles form. Her Navan run came off the back of an absence of more than 400 days so the bounce factor is a niggling concern but the support suggests that she is still in form at home.

She is a half-sister to Youcantcallherthat who improved massively for fences, reaching a peak rating of 143, with wins at Grade 2 and Grade 3 level. She stayed three miles so this test should be ideal for this mare who remains lightly raced with just nine starts under her belt.

Her trainer Stephen Gerard Carey doesn’t have many in his care but he had a mare placed in a Listed race at Punchestown earlier this month so he is capable when getting the ammunition and clearly with mares. It’s a wide open race but with extra places on offer, she’s an interesting each way player.
