Owen’s ITV Outsiders! 40/1 and 20/1 Each Way Horse Racing Tips

With a pair of Group 1 races at Newmarket on Saturday, it’s a day of racing to savour. The Home of Flat Racing hosts the final day of their Cambridgeshire Meeting, with the Middle Park and Cheveley Park Stakes headlining a mouth-watering card.

It’ll be shown live on ITV4, with Haydock providing the supporting cast alongside the Curragh. We’ll have ITV Racing Tips for all seven races, including the Cambridgeshire Handicap.

In this article, however, I’ll be focusing on some horses at bigger prices! With top-class action aplenty and several competitive handicaps, there’s plenty of chances to find that all important value.

2.05 Haydock – Nicholas T (20/1)

He’s certainly not been at his best for the majority of 2020, but Nicholas T is more than a capable of putting in a strong effort for Jim Goldie. He proved that he retained all his his ability on return when scoring at Ayr in this grade.

He’s two pounds below that mark at present, with two recent runs at Ayr better than the bare form figures suggest. He should get a strong pace to aim at in this contest, which will aid his chances as a horse who does all his best running late.

He posted numerous positive efforts in this grade last year off higher ratings and conditions have fallen into his favour. He looks overpriced to run a big race under Paul Mulrennan.

2.40 Haydock – Copper Knight (20/1)

Gaining his last victory at York in Listed company, Copper Knight is too talented to continue his recent struggles for Tim Easterby. Kicking off his 2020 campaign with a short-head second at Newmarket off seven pounds higher, he’s far too dangerously treated to ignore now.

His recent handicap runs have been disappointing, but he’s not had the races run to suit in big-field scenarios. He should be able to chase a more “sedate” gallop in today’s contest, which will give him a much better chance of edging to the lead in the closing stages.

Winning his last handicap off five pounds higher, he will have no excuse today with ground conditions to suit. Easterby has his string in fine form of late and it would be disappointing if this likeable six-year-old was unable to play a leading role in the finish.

3.35 Newmarket – Afaak (40/1)

Winning last year’s Royal Hunt Cup off three pounds higher, this race will suit Afaak down to the ground. Charlie Hills’ six-year-old has been running well without reward in 2020 and deserves another day in the spotlight.

Seventh in the Royal Hunt Cup on return off a big weight, he went close in the Golden Mile at Glorious Goodwood subsequently. Both those runs came off much higher marks and having to set his own fractions at Ascot last time won’t have suited.

He meets Tempus on much better terms today and he’ll relish a return to a big-field handicap. He has a good track record in races such as this and his two previous defeats in the Cambridgeshire came off higher ratings.

Off such a dangerous mark, it would be disappointing if he was unable to land a blow.
