Our tipsters' strongest bets for this meeting

William Hill Leading Racecourse Bookmaker Veterans' Handicap (Class 5)
Glen Moss silk

Glen Moss

Enjoys this ground, thrown in on old best form if cheekpieces work. Went well from 10lbs higher at Haydock in September

William Hill Catterick Dash Handicap (Class 2)
Storm Over silk

Storm Over

Likes these conditions, won his only start at the track (this race last year) and ran well in 4th off this mark last time.

William Hill This Is More Handicap (Class 4)

Yet to win for new yard but throw-in on previous form & has hinted at better of late; overpriced returning to 1m 4f after a solid fourth at Chester last time out.

Get So Much More With Racing UK Handicap (Class 4)
Magic City silk

Magic City

Redrosezorro has form figures of 32311 over today’s course and distance, and he will have no issues with the softer ground conditions on offer here. At the prices, however, a chance is taken on MAGIC CITY who should get a strong pace to aim at this afternoon and is now back racing from his last winning handicap mark. Start Time was not disgraced in a stronger race than this at Ayr last time out, he warrants respect back in this grade.

Go Racing In Yorkshire Apprentice Handicap (Go Racing In Yorkshire Future Stars Apprentice Series) (Class 6)

ECHO looks less exposed than most in this line-up, and he was staying on powerfully at the end of his race over 1m 4f last time out which suggests that the extra yardage on offer will suit him today. With Andrew Breslin claiming a valuable three pounds off his back, he is supported to land this contest. Richard Strauss has a very modest strike-rate but arrives here in good form, he looks the strongest forecast option.

Tips for Catterick Races

Catterick racecourse – also known as Catterick Bridge racecourse – is located in Yorkshire, right next to the River Swale and the A1 motorway. Racing was first held here in 1783, and it hosts both Flat racing through the summer and National Hunt races in the winter.

Course: Both types of courses follow the same tight oval layout.  The undulating track and very sharp bends favour front runners, while the gravel subsoil means the ground rarely gets too soft. Our Catterick tips often look for previous course winners who have shown an ability to act here.

Plans for an All Weather track and changes to the layout of the jumps track were approved in 2015, but with the development of the All Weather track at Newcastle those plans appear to be on hold.

Draw Bias: Over the sprint distances, there has historically been a slight bias towards lower drawn runners.

Feature Race: The North Yorkshire Grand National is the yearly feature race; a competitive Class 3 handicap run over three miles and six furlongs which we will have tips for every year..
