Newmarket Day 1 Tips

It could be a great day for Godolphin and Last Sunset sets the standard in the first ITV race of the day with Frankie Dettori booked for the ride.

Andrew Balding targets this race every year and with two wins from the last four in the contest, recent scorer Quickstep Lady can land the double off a low weight.

Godolphin’s La Barrosa created a hugely impressive impact visually when scoring on debut and it will be a surprise if he is not a group-class performer.

Last year’s winner Withhold has to be respected but he will do well to see off the attentions of the very classy stayer Mildenberger who goes well fresh.
