Gordon Elliott’s Tiger Roll will bid for a third Grand National in April at Aintree. Prior to attempting to complete that historic feat, he’s going for a third successive win in the Glenfarclas Chase at the 2020 Cheltenham Festival.
The diminutive Tiger landed the odds in 2018 before a mightily impressive success the following year, scoring by twenty-two lengths. Sent off 5/4 last season, he’s a best priced Even money shot to complete a three-timer with most bookmakers. Paddy Power have a fantastic price boost on Gordon Elliott’s legend of the game though. They’re offering 40/1 for him to score on Wednesday!

Will He Win?
We certainly think so! He forms part of our 87/1 Cheltenham Festival Mega Accumulator. He’s a warm order with most bookmakers for a good reason. The gelding has taken all before him in two previous starts in the race, staying on gamely to score in 2018. He was mightily impressive the following year, hosing up under Keith Donoghue.
Tiger Roll is officially rated 171. That’s heads and shoulders above his rivals here, with RPRs suggesting he has at least eleven pounds in hand over the second highest rated, Peregrine Run. Second favourite Easyland posted an RPR of 159 when scoring over course and distance in December. In contrast, Tiger Roll ran to a mark of 171 when landing the 2019 edition.
He thrives under this particular set of conditions. He stays forever and he jumps for fun, with the various obstacles the Cross Country course has to offer providing the perfect playground for the ten-year-old.
He’s many people’s idea of the best bet of the week. Twice a winner of the race already, a dual National winner, and the highest rated in the race by some margin, it’s easy to see why. Given the massive enhancement provided by Paddy Power, it’s hard not to get excited about the Cross Country Chase on Day Two of the Festival.
