Four horses that will relish the good ground at Southwell form 364-1 Monday accumulator ☀️

Spring is well and truly on the way it seems as the weekend has seen temperatures as high as 16° and the sun has been shining. It comes as no real shock that the current going description for Monday’s jumps card at Southwell is good. With this in mind, we’ve picked out four horses with proven records on this quicker ground who’ll relish conditions.

1.00 Southwell

Head On has been campaigned to avoid testing conditions having not raced on ground worse than good-to-soft in 10 career starts. This gelding has two wins and second in five starts on good ground and looks to have a great chance of improving that record here. The jockey suggested that the ground was tacky when he pulled up on his last start. The going here should be genuinely good which will help him to return to form.

1.35 Southwell

Across The Line has a promising record on good ground having not been out of the first two in two starts. This includes a course and distance victory off just 1lb lower. The form of this win has worked out well with the third winning twice and the fourth beating the Kim Muir winner at Ludlow subsequently. He’s been competing in much better races than this lately and the drop in grade could lead to him picking up another victory.

3.55 Southwell

Bartholomew J has placed five times in 10 career starts on good ground. This includes two victories and one of which came last time out. He received a 4lb rise in the handicap for that victory which shouldn’t be too unbearable a burden. His best flat form was on good-to-firm so he loves conditions to be as fast as possible. This isn’t the deepest of races and he should be able to make it two-in-two.

4.30 Southwell

Train Hill’s record suggests that the gelding absolutely has to have good ground in order to compete. He comes here after a break of 201 days which is a slight negative but his love for good ground can compensate for that. This gelding has a win and two seconds to his name on good ground and will surely relish these conditions.
