3:40 Southwell – Tease Maid – 1pt @ 16/1
I’m going to take a chance on TEASE MAID bouncing back to form as she had looked likely to land one of these fibresand handicaps before long when placing on each of her three C&D outings in September and October. Her latest start was terribly disappointing as she didn’t travel a yard over 7f, but the jockey said she got upset when the horse drawn on her inside was being unruly and it could be worth forgiving that effort. On the previous course showings, she’s very interesting at this level and returning to 6f is a plus as I doubt she would have stayed the trip last time regardless. 16/1 makes her a worthy play.
6:40 Kempton – Alhakmah – 1pt @ 11/1
ALHAKMAH brings a more solid recent performance to the table having finished just a few lengths off a clearly well-in rival over C&D a few weeks ago. There are no major reasons to suggest that Richard Hannon’s filly could or should have done better there but she is down another pound in the ratings and a mini jolt of improvement at some point wouldn’t be a surprise given how she can travel through a race. Joe Fanning is an interesting booking in the saddle also and in a race lacking anything with huge scope, she could make it sixth time lucky at handicapping level. A good pace from the outset would aid her cause.
