2:00 Exeter – Tractor Fred – 1pt @ 7/1
TRACTOR FRED fell in both of his point outings in 2018 but having joined Jamie Snowden’s yard after five spins over hurdles last term, he shaped a lot better on his chasing debut at Southwell. That race was run quite slowly, which wouldn’t have suited him ideally, but he kept galloping away after he was headed in the straight and looked like a horse who could improve for both the experience and the run. If he does come on as hoped, a handicap like this looks within his range and 7/1 rates a decent price.
2:35 Exeter – Truckin Away – 1pt @ 11/1
Although he was hugely disappointing on his chasing debut, TRUCKIN AWAY could be worth taking another chance on. For some reason, the 6-year-old weakened away quickly in the straight before being pulled up and that was a surprise as he had been shaping quite well in the run. The fact that he was jumping off to his right at times suggests going this way around will be a help and on the promise of a few of his hurdles runs, he could be well-treated off 132 if a tongue-tie for the first time does the trick.
