12:10 Lingfield – Bint Dandy – 1pt @ 12/1
It has been a while since BINT DANDY managed to come up trumps but the mare is 16lbs below her last winning mark and could go close at a decent price. She ran quite well over the mile at Chelmsford last time out, finishing fourth of 15 behind a few 3-year-old’s, and it won’t take a massive improvement on that to be mixing it with the best of these back at 7f. Indeed, she caught the eye off 5lbs higher over C&D a few outings ago, running on well in the closing stages after going wide into the straight and the RPR produced that day (73) would likely be enough to win this. Richard Kingscote retaining the ride is a plus and they’re well drawn.
1:10 Lingfield – Revich – 1pt @ 9/2
REVICH is easier to find in the market but I think there has been an overreaction to his recent All-Weather defeats, which has led the handicapper to deem him a few pounds inferior on artificial surfaces compared to turf. Given the quality of races he ran in lately, one of which was over C&D, it’s hard to come to a definite conclusion and he shaped reasonably well anyway. Going up in trip will help, as will going down in grade, and it’s interesting to note the yard using 7lb claiming apprentice Angus Villiers to great effect in recent times. They’ve had a pair of winners and a second from just four rides, and could be set to score again here.
2:15 Lingfield – Petra’s Pony – 1pt @ 100/1
It could be a bet that will go anywhere from well to very badly but PETRA’S PONY is triple figures with a few firms and from a basement mark in a mediocre handicap, I’ll take a punt on him. Brian Mehaan’s 4-year-old has few pieces of form to note and a long absence to overcome, but was punted into 10/1 from big prices at Southwell when last seen and shaped with some promise previously around Wolverhampton when running on in a claimer where he was far from favoured at the weights. Will he stay this longer trip? I don’t know! But his best maiden run came at 1m 3f at Kempton and at anything from 100/1 to 50/1, I’ll play a point in hope.
