Having developed an interest in racing whilst in college some years ago, James has worked in many areas of the industry, including a stint hiding his face on radio! From 2008 until 2017, he ran a successful tipping service and has had shares in numerous horses including the wonderful Fast Shot. Unsurprisingly given some of the horses he has bought shares in, his punting passions lie in sprint handicaps on both the turf and All-Weather surfaces!

James Boyle landed 10/1 & 5/1 winners last Saturday. View today’s selections below.

3:10 Newcastle – Above The Rest- 1pt @ 5/1

ABOVE THE REST would have been a two point bet if the earlier, and overly generous, 8/1 quotes had stuck around but sadly they haven’t! Despite that, he still rates a solid bet and should do better back on tapeta. His form on it includes a Listed win at Wolverhampton and a Group 3 win here, and he shaped really well in both of his October outings before finding 6f at Lingfield too demanding. In handicap company and over 7f again, he’s of major interest and must have a seriously good chance to enhance his record on this surface.

5:50 Wolverhampton – Howzer Black – 1pt @ 16/1

Keith Dalgleish’s horses are in good order and HOWZER BLACK looks a big price to be another winner for the yard. He didn’t pull up many trees last week but that was in a higher grade over 6f and as things panned out, he probably wasn’t drawn great. I thought that he still shaped as if he was in form and down at this level at his ideal trip, he can be much more competitive. Indeed, he caught the eye over C&D on his 2019 return and coming back here could do the trick. Luck will be needed from stall one but 14/1+ is a price I’ll gladly play.

6:20 Wolverhampton – Time To Reason – 1pt @ 10/1

TIME TO REASON is the final selection of the day and whilst he’s hard to win with, he did at least show more on his second run after a break when fifth at Chelmsford. I got the impression that he did too much running too early but it should have brought him on another notch and now he heads up to 6f again whilst also taking a hidden class drop. He has form here too, including an encouraging effort over C&D when ridden by Richard Kingscote and it’s a plus to see him booked again. They’re well-drawn and should have a good spin around.
