Having developed an interest in racing whilst in college some years ago, James has worked in many areas of the industry, including a stint hiding his face on radio! From 2008 until 2017, he ran a successful tipping service and has had shares in numerous horses including the wonderful Fast Shot. Unsurprisingly given some of the horses he has bought shares in, his punting passions lie in sprint handicaps on both the turf and All-Weather surfaces!

Racing tipster James Boyle has picked out three selections for Day 3 at Glorious Goodwood.

1:50pm Goodwood – Dalaalaat – 1pt win @ 8/1

Another wide-open handicap to start the day but DALAALAAT may prove to be the answer to solve the puzzle. The William Haggas trained 3-year-old lurks towards the bottom of the weights off a mark of 89 and his form with the likes of King Of Change (Guineas runner up) and Ouzo (twice a winner since) are helping to make that rating look more attractive all the time. Indeed, the horse arrives on the back of an All-Weather win over a mile earlier this month and there was enough in the run to suggest that stepping back up to 1m 2f will help him. The only time he went this far came on soft ground, which didn’t appear to suit at all, and on a sounder surface at a sharp track it could be a different story altogether.

2:25pm Goodwood – Symbolize – 1pt win @ 8/1

The front three in this year’s Windsor Castle at Royal Ascot came from the three highest stalls and it could be worthwhile to upgrade the performance of SYMBOLIZE, who was drawn in 11 before coming home in fourth place. Even if the son of Starspangledbanner had won that race, he would still have work to do on the figures with many of these rivals who lined up in the Coventry a day earlier but there is scope for him to improve now stepped up to 6f for the first time. Returning to a faster surface is far from a negative either when you consider how impressive he was at Salisbury on debut when faced with good-to-firm and he can upset those who raced in the more prestigious Ascot event.

5:20pm Goodwood – Tinto – 1pt win @ 10/1

TINTO hasn’t always enjoyed the best of fortune during his races but he’s exceptionally consistent for a sprinter and arrives here on the back of a narrow win at Bath where he came from the clouds to get up in the shadow of the post. Despite being a small field, that looks to be solid form with the runner-up being a talented filly who was close up in a Listed race on her previous outing. The handicapper has had his say, of course, nudging Amanda Perrett’s charge up 5lbs to a career high rating of 87 but he’ll enjoy a rapidly run 5f on this speed orientated track more than most and has the perfect combination of a cruising speed and a turn of foot to pick these up in the closing stages if getting luck in the run.
