Irish trainers Paul Traynor and Connor Maxwell have only had one previous Jumps runner each in Britain so far but that’s about to change on Tuesday. Both are set to send one runner each to Kelso for the first time and the two horses have differing chances.
Here we take a close look at the horses in question and whether or not victory could be on the cards. Go ahead and check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.
Fiver Friday was a fair performer on the Flat, winning four times in that sphere. One of those was a 15-length success in a Hamilton maiden back in August 2023 so she clearly possesses some ability. Making the perfect start to her hurdling career, she won well at Naas earlier this month.
She pressed the leaders after the second-last flight and saw the trip out well to score by just shy of three lengths. Obviously a 7lb penalty will make life a bit harder but this is just her second start over hurdles and she’s entitled to progress.
Point-to-point winner Rose Of Kalanisi remains a maiden after 14 starts under rules and her two best efforts thus far have come over hurdles. Both of her third-place finishes came in maiden hurdle company.
The first was on her hurdling debut at Clonmel and the second over an extended 2m4f at Tramore next time. We probably need to see some improvement if she’s to come out on top here but you wouldn’t want to rule her out entirely. Connections surely won’t be sending her over just for a day out.
