Sunday’s angles: Stat of the day, Follow Bowen at Perth and horses for courses

There are four meetings taking place across Britain and Ireland on Sunday and we’ve picked out some of the more intriguing angles. Sean Bowen is the jockey to follow at Perth, whilst Ryan Moore’s 50 per cent strike-rate at Navan this season relates to our stat of the day. Horses with previous form at Goodwood often have a significant advantage so we’ve selected some proven course performers to follow. Take a look at our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.

Bowen to lands more winners at Perth?

Sean Bowen rides winners wherever he goes but Perth is his most successful track in the last five seasons. The champion jockey has landed 82 winners at Perth during this period, at a strike-rate of 33 per cent. He has a decent book of rides at the Scottish track on Sunday so here are his best chances.

Flying Ace represents the Gordon Elliott yard and the five-year-old was a comfortable winner at Cartmel last month. You would imagine that there’s more to come from him.

Statuario certainly likes it here at Perth, having won seven of his 10 starts at the track. He was last seen dead-heating for first with American Mike over course and distance and should be in the mix.

Stat of the day

Ryan Moore has two winners from his four rides at Navan so far this season and by that logic, there’s a good chance one of his two rides on Sunday will win.

Isaac Newton started off well as a two-year-old, finishing second by a nose on debut at the Curragh, and he went one better at Goodwood after that. His form this season has been a little underwhelming but he’s definitely capable of better.

Moore returns to the saddle on board Drop Dead Gorgeous and she has every chance on the evidence of her solid third in the Group 3 Athasi Stakes. The step up in trip didn’t go to plan last time out and the return to a mile is likely to suit.

Goodwood horses for courses

The bang in-form Arc Zoosve completed his four-timer when scoring at Lingfield last month and was victorious over course and distance before that. Obviously the handicapper will catch up soon but perhaps he can win again before that happens.

Hamish has been around the block a fair few times and remains unbeaten in two starts at Goodwood. Winning this very race last year, you certainly wouldn’t want to rule him out once again.
