TV Stats ‘600/1 Cracker Acca’

(Pays £3,000 for a £5 stake)

1.50 Warwick: With a decent 33% record with his chasers at the track, then trainer Dan Skelton’s ARDLETHEN stands out here. This seven-year-old has run three solid races over fences this season, including a win at Chepstow back in October. The form of his second to the useful Sam Spinner two runs ago has been given a boast since, while he’s always been a horse that’s gone well fresh, so the six-week break also looks a plus.

2.05 Kempton: TOP NOTCH, who won this race twelve months ago, will be all the rage again this year. This versatile Nicky Henderson nine-year-old has returned to the track this season better than ever after wins over hurdles and fences. The last of those victories came in the Peterborough Chase and with his main rival – Frodon – having a few questions to answer at the moment, then Top Notch is taken to give trainer Nicky Henderson his fourth win in the race since 2016.

3.00 Warwick: Last year’s winner of the McCoy Contractors Civil Engineering Classic Handicap Chase – IMPULSIVE STAR – looks primed for another solid showing. This Neil Mulholland runner is only four pounds higher than last year when winning by 3 ¼ lengths and has regular pilot, Sam Waley-Cohen, who can claim three pounds, doing the steering again. The first-time blinkers are an interesting addition, while a recent run at Cheltenham after a long break would have blown the cobwebs away.

3.35 Warwick: Trainer Jonjo O’Neill has targeted this race with success twice since 2012, so his TEDHAM gets the nod here. This six-year-old was only three lengths behind Stoney Mountain last time at Haydock, but three pounds better off here, while after staying on well that day the slightly longer trip also looks a plus.
