Saturday TV Stats – 370/1 Cracker Acca!

Al Dancer winning the 2019 Betfair Hurdle at Newbury

Trends Analysis: Saturday 8th Feb 2020

Sit back and enjoy as we’ve another ‘crackerjack’ afternoon in store this Saturday as the ITV cameras head to Newbury and Warwick to take in seven races across the two venues.

At Newbury, we’ll get further Cheltenham Festival clues with the Betfair Denman Chase (3.00) providing some Gold Cup pointers, while the Betfair Exchange Chase (2.25) is often a good guide ahead of the Champion Chase. Add in the ultra-competitive Betfair Hurdle (3.35) then there’s plenty to get excited about at the Berkshire track.

Did you know? Sixteen of the last seventeen Betfair Hurdle winners were aged seven or younger.

Then at Warwick, we’ve three more LIVE ITV races that include the Agetur Kingmaker Novices’ Chase (2.05)

As always, we’ll be highlighting our TOP FOUR trends to look for from the ITV Racing and putting them in a big-priced ‘Cracker Acca’ – plus, giving you the ‘best of the rest’ trends from around the other tracks this Saturday.

Plus – don’t forget, you can also get more help finding the winner for all this Saturday’s races on our Free Horse Racing Tips page.

TV Stats ‘370/1 Cracker Acca’

(Pays £1,850 for a £5 stake)

2.05 Warwick: Some promising Novice Chasers on show here but with a stonking 64% strike-rate (7-from-11) with his chasers at the track, then trainer Nicky Henderson is a man to have on side. He runs the seven-year-old PRECIOUS CARGO. We’ve seen this horse run two solid races (one win) over fences and despite going down by a short-head to Moonlighter last time at Newbury is three pounds better off this time so should have a strong chance of reversing that form.

2.25 Newbury: After losing his unbeaten record over obstacles last time out at Ascot, all eyes will be on ALTIOR, as Nicky Henderson’s popular chaser looks to restore his superstar status. After what looked like a hard race last time, connections have given him around two and a half months off to get over that, and there are reports coming out of the Seven Barrows yard that he’s back to his old self. Add in that he’s won the last two renewals of this race, then we know the track suits. Finally, being rated 175, is also the clear top-rated in the field and 12lbs ahead of his nearest rival – Sceau Royal.

3.15 Warwick: TWO TAFFS has clearly had some issues in recent seasons after missing the whole of 2018. However, he had a wind operation during that time on the sidelines and returned with a solid run (third) at Wetherby in November. He was down the field next time in the Ladbrokes Trophy at Newbury, but clearly didn’t stay that longer trip so the drop back to 2m4f looks a good move. Add in that the Dan Skelton yard have a decent 31% strike-rate at the track with their hurdlers, then despite his advancing years this lightly-raced ten-year-old might still have something to offer.

3.35 Newbury: With the Nigel Twiston-Davies yard having won the Betfair Hurdle three times in the last six years – including last year – then anything they send to post should be respected. They’ve actually two entries – Sir Valentine and STOLEN SILVER – who are also both running for the same owner. However, with jockey Sam Twiston-Davies, having ridden two of the last three winners for his dad, then his mount Stolen Silver gets the nod. Their five-year-old came with a strong late run to get up on the line at Haydock (1m 7 1/2f), so the extra furlong here looks a plus, and with just four career runs over hurdles looks the sort to have more improvement to come.
