Trends Analysis: Saturday 1st Feb 2020
Fingers crossed the weather is kind this Saturday as we’ve another decent afternoon to look forward to with seven LIVE ITV races spread across three venues – Sandown, Wetherby and Musselburgh.
There will also be plenty more Cheltenham Festival clues on offer across the Irish Sea as we’ve a crackerjack of a card at Leopardstown with the opening day of the two-day Dublin Racing Festival.
As always, we’ll be highlighting our TOP FOUR trends to look for from the ITV Racing and putting them in a big-priced ‘Cracker Acca’ – plus, giving you the ‘best of the rest’ trends from around the other tracks this Saturday.
Plus – don’t forget, you can also get more help finding the winner for all this Saturday’s races on our Free Horse Racing Tips page.
TV Stats ‘340/1 Cracker Acca’
(Pays £1,700 for a £5 stake)
1.50 Sandown: The Nicky Henderson yard normally rely on Buveur D’Air to win this race (has won the last three renewals), but with ‘Buv’ on the sidelines they turn to CALL ME LORD to try and provide the stable with their sixth win in the last eight runnings. He’s the clear top-rated in the field and being a proven course and distance winner too we know the track will pose no issues.
2.45 Wetherby: With a cracking 42% record (five-from-twelve) with his chasers at the track then trainer Kim Bailey’s NEWTIDE stands out. This seven-year-old showed a good level of form over hurdles last season, but has also translated that to fences with a smooth success on his chase debut at Ffos Las in November. More is needed in this higher grade, but connections have taken their time with him by giving him around three months off to freshen-up and that looks a good move.
3.00 Sandown: Trainer Philip Hobbs has won two of the last six runners and looks to have another good chance with BIG SHARK. This six-year-old has only raced three times under rules, but is yet to finish out of the first two (one win) and should have more to come. He acts well on soft ground and has also proven he can stay this sort of trip well.
3.35 Sandown: It might be worth sticking with last year’s winner of this race – CLASSIC BEN, who tries again off just a pound higher mark. This seven-year-old is the only course and distance winner in the field and should be spot-on for this with two solid runs already this season. Soft ground is no issue, while from two previous runs at Sandown he’s picked up a silver and gold medal, so we know he likes the Esher venue.
