Owen’s Glorious Goodwood Outsiders! 28/1 and 25/1 Selections

Goodwood Racecourse

What a week we’ve had at Glorious Goodwood! We’ve had both Stradivarius and Battaash creating racing history, while Mohaather produced a scintillating performance in the Sussex Stakes.

We’ve got plenty to look forward to on Saturday, including the always ultra-competitive Stewards’ Cup! Twenty-eight runners will take the start and that leaves plenty of value to be had.

We’ll have ITV Racing Tips and Horse Racing tips for all of the action at Glorious Goodwood on Saturday. I’m going to focus on drawing out the value, however, and have found three bigger-priced fancies! Here are Owen’s Outsiders for the final day of Glorious Goodwood! (Prices correct as of 4:30pm on Friday).

You can take advantage of the ITV Racing with bet365, with details of their ITV 4/1+ Offer below!

1.50 Goodwood – Dream Today (28/1)

It’s certainly been a while between drinks for Jamie Osbourne’s charge, but he’s very classy at his best. He gained his last success in 2019 when landing a Meydan sprint off eleven pounds higher. His mark has slowly decreased since, despite some good efforts, including a pair of placed efforts in Dubai earlier this year. Both of those second-place finishes came off a mark of 94, and he competes off 85 today. In fact, with Saffie Osbourne’s claim in mind, he’s actually sixteen pounds lower.

A strongly run six furlongs will play to his strengths and Osbourne’s claim really does put him in a strong position. He does need to step up on two recent defeats, but he’s more than capable and his recent fourth at Bath was better than the bare result suggests.

3.35 Goodwood – Chairmanoftheboard (25/1)

Mick Channon’s charge has run just once at Goodwood, where he won his debut in torrential conditions. Although mainly disappointing in 2019, he’s surged to improvement in 2020 and has won two of his last three starts. He flew home from the rear to win easily at Newmarket on his latest outing and a burn-up over six furlongs back on the Downs will be right up his alley.

He’s gone up six pounds for his most recent success, but he’s been progressive this term and won that Newmarket race with plenty left in the tank. He’s looked ground versatile so there is no reason to believe firmer ground will blunt him. Doing all his best work late in his races, watch for Rob Hornby weaving his way through in the closing stages, hopefully to victory in the Stewards’ Cup!

4.10 Goodwood – Homespin (25/1)

The weather has played right into the hands of Homespin, a son of Speightstown with a beautiful American pedigree. He was progressive as a juvenile, winning two of his five starts. He broke his handicap duck at this venue, winning a six-furlong nursery on this card twelve months ago. His only heavy defeat came at York, where he slipped coming out of the stalls and lost all chance.

It’s fair to assume he would have needed the run on seasonal debut, with the weather and the course at Newmarket not helping matters. He will have come on plenty for that effort and stepping up to seven furlongs looks a great move on his strong finishing efforts over six as a two-year-old. There is certainly plenty to like about his chances at tempting odds, especially in race Mark Johnston has a superb record in.
