How We Did It

First up in our Acca was Kilcrea Vale – tipped up at Evens, we were expecting a bold show from the Nicky Henderson inmate. After taking to chasing like a fish to water, we knew we had a strong contender on our hands to get the Acca rolling. The race unfolded in a different manner than we were expecting with As De Mee taking the race by the scruff under Sean Bowen and they had us off the bridle quite a way from home. Kilcrea Vale had to dig deep under Jerry McGrath but the jockey never stopped urging his mount and got a great tune to get him upsides the leader at 4 out. The horse kept on gamely to win. First leg LANDED!

Adreamstillalive was our next tip. We thought that our selection was MASSIVELY overpriced at 10/3 with the De Bromhead/Mullins partnership blossoming into something beautifully consistent. But when we saw a drift to 4/1 we were checking the calendar to see if it was in fact Christmas. Mullins, true to form, gave an absolute masterclass in the saddle. The gutsy mare was out in front very early and simply stacked them all up before injecting some pace and catching them all flat footed. She stayed all day and landed the second leg in style. KA-BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM! Our Acca was …ADREAMSTILLALIVE!

The final horse we needed to win was Martin Smith’s My Mate Mark, who was also our NAP. After an ultra impressive debut we were quick to snap that one up as the last leg in the Acca at 9/4. The money came early in the day before drifting back out to the original 9/4. We wished the trainer the best of luck and the sweat was well and truly on to land our £325 Acca. Adam Wedge took the bull by the horns and, similar to Adreamstillalive, stacked them up very well. The nuts behind began to start cracking and Wedge turned the screw on our NAP. My Mate Mark had them all it at bar Fernan under Brian Hughes, but our NAP was so game and began to pull out more to pull clear late on! BOOOOOOOOOOOOOM! £325 Acca WINNER!
