‘He’s been crying out for this’ – 66-1 Grand National tip can do the business 💼

Aintree’s Grand National Festival takes place next week and the big race will be on Saturday. We’ve picked one out at an enormous price which may well have snuck under the radar. Probably the most famous horse race in the country, the cavalry charge with up to 40 runners is a fascinating spectacle. The horse in question is available at a mammoth price of 66-1 and we think he could be much better than that. Ireland have dominated the entries for this race but this Welsh-wonder could raise the roof for team Britain. Check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.

Eva’s Oskar

Tim Vaughan’s nine-year-old has the ideal age profile for this race, as six of the last nine winners have been eight or nine. The ground is currently good at Aintree and connections will be hoping it stays that way. He has failed to finish outside of the first two in six starts on good ground, winning four times. This is a particularly impressive statistic and it’ll stand him in good stead if the current going is maintained.

Eva’s Oskar won over 3m2f at Cheltenham back in December and the flying grey battled on and outstayed his opponent when joined after the last fence. He’s been crying out for a shot at this race and he has the requisite stamina reserves to run a huge race. Fourth in the Eider when last seen, if ridden with a little more restraint this time around, it would be no surprise if this horse was to hit the frame.

Vaughan has had two winners from his last five runners, giving him a strike-rate of 40 per cent in the last fortnight. This horse is his only entry between now and Saturday so it would appear he’s going for quality over quantity. If that is the case, it bodes well for the horse’s chances on the big day.
