Leg 1 – SOCIETY QUEEN 4/5 – With only 3 runners going to post in the first at Ayr our Acca looked to have a good chance of getting off to a good start and despite looking keen enough in the early stages Paddy Mathers kept hold of his mount until the 1f pole. From there he pulled across the track slighty in a messy finish but was pushed out to win for a cosy 1/2 length win.
Leg 2 – BERLIOS 9/4 – For the second leg we looked to bookend the card at Ayr with Rebecca Bastiman’s Berlios. After keeping in touch with the leaders early on his amateur jockey, Becky Smith, kicked for home 2f out and soon rushed clear to score by just shy of 3 lengths. We were one away!
Leg 3 – TIAR NA NOG 11/4 – Denis Coakley’s mare opened up at the head of the market but found herself vying for favourtism after drifting from 2/1 to 11/4 at post time, we had no need to fear though. She was held up by Harry Burns early on, a jockey who Oisin Murphy has called the best young rider around at present, who delivered his challenge on the outside at the 2f marker. The pair had moved into second a furlong out and battled on well, winning by 3/4 of a length and securing our first Acca winner of the day! GET IN!
