How We Did It

The first leg of our Evening Double was the Richard Hughes trained Delfie Lane, a 62-rated Harbour Watch 3-year-old who was yet to get off the mark after six career starts. He had shown distinct promise on his first start at a mile a week ago at Lingfield and caught our eye there. Under Finley Marsh, who was claiming 7lbs and biding to ride his third winner, the horse quickened up well in first time cheekpieces and was not going to be for catching. KA-BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM! The first leg is a lovely winner!

Next up came the final race of the day and Tony Carroll’s Par Three was our tip. The 6-year-old had not won for nearly 2 years but was a full 10lbs below his last winning mark and with Adam Kirby booked to ride for the first time, the job looked on! Market vibes were negative as the selection drifted out to 4/1 but it didn’t make any difference and only gave us a bonus price about a horse who stayed on very well to win under one of the very best jockeys around. BOOOOOOOOOOOOOM – get in there! A £162 Double in the bag!
