‘A tip in itself?’ – Ryan Moore’s one ride in Ireland on Thursday isn’t for Aidan

Ryan Moore is probably the finest jockey of his generation and he has been at his brilliant best so far this year. He’s very selective of his rides so it could be significant that he heads over to Leopardstown for one ride on Thursday. The fact that the horse isn’t trained by his regular boss Aidan O’Brien makes it even more interesting and it could be a tip in itself. Here we take a close look at the horse and consider who the main dangers could be. Check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.

6.20 Leopardstown

Comanche Brave hails from the Donnacha O’Brien yard and the lightly raced three-year-old has produced a high level of form so far. The son of Wootton Bassett is out of a Royal Ascot Group 3-winning mare and he managed to get off the mark at the second time of asking as a two-year-old.

He bolted up in a Cork maiden over 6f, travelling strongly throughout, and he cruised clear to score by just shy of five lengths. O’Brien’s colt went on to finish second in a Listed contest at Dundalk next time but was a tad disappointing behind Exactly in a Group 3 on his final start at two.

Second on seasonal debut, that form is excellent, as the winner Henri Matisse went on to win the Poule d’Essai des Poulains next time. Comanche Brave was a respectable fifth in the Irish 2000 Guineas next time, despite failing to see out the trip. Dropping back to 7f should suit with that in mind.

The experienced Mutasarref is likely to be on the premises and Joseph O’Brien’s Coward Of The County showed a good level of form as a two-year-old.
