9.56pm Crayford Race Preview 15/07/2017

Droopys Nuka picked up an impressive win in A6 grade last week from the orange jacket. In theory she has more on her plate tonight up in grade but the return to the striped jacket gives her a strong chance of making it 3/6. Our greyhound tips will be up later on this afternoon, let’s take a look at the task that faces Nuka tonight in our runner by runner preview.

9.56pm Crayford 15th July A5 Grade

Treatmethesame – Veteran is a newcomer to the track, winning on her A6 debut last week. She was an A3 bitch when running at Sunderland so despite her age, there is probably a little more to come from her at her new home. She had a fair bit of early pace there, benefitting from a draw inside a dog who moves off last week, with a similar scenario tonight.

Roosters Spud – Pup boasts plenty of early pace, a race winner at Drumbo when trained in Ireland. This will be his race debut at Crayford, clocking 3.56 and 3.58 sectionals in a pair of his trials. This will be a test for him, pitched straight into A5 as given the way he moves, a draw closer to the middle would be ideal for him.

Madame Moo Moo – A fellow Jim Daly kennelmate, what she lacks in size, she makes up for in heart. She was a hugely impressive winner in A6 grade at the end of June, the runner up following up in style last week to frank the form. She was a little unlucky last week when slipping on the last bend, but a draw outside a quick starting middle mover could spell trouble for her.

Tinas Fred – Very impressive winner in this grade last August, but he has struggled to get close to that level of form since. Has won in both A7 and A6 grade of late so arrives in good form, but his lack of early pace means that he has to do things the hard way from behind. He was well seen off at this level last week when trapping a little better than is often the case, he will struggle to pick up some of these unless there is trouble in front.

Hitachi Jade – Only had two career races, both in this grade, struggling each time to get a clear run. She conjured up a smash break when re-trialling with a 3.50 sectional, stopping the clock at 23.72. That would make her a huge danger to Nuka if she were able to reproduce that, but given her previous bests were 3.61 and 23.97, that’s best taken with a pinch of salt for now.

Droopys Nuka – Filling out nicely with her racing, she has put together back to back runs with 3.56 and 3.57 sectionals. A draw back in stripes should help her, if timing her break and able to avoid the 5 on the run-up, she is capable of clocking one in the early 3.50’s. She didn’t lead up last week, but her middle pace took her clear, a similar 23.75 performance will allow her to go very close, but after just five runs, there should be better still in the tank.

Conclusion

Plenty of early pace on the inside but 2 and 3 could easily tangle early on which may give 1 a clear run through. 5 was impressive in a trial last time, but whether she is capable of reproducing that under race conditions has to be a question for now. Nuka won with authority last week, a repeat of that 23.75 is likely to be enough to see her make it three wins from just six starts in her career tonight, it would be no surprise to see her go off short.
