Willie Mullins is in pretty decent form of late, with a strike-rate of 33 per cent in the last fortnight. He’s been doing particularly well with his runners at Thurles so far this season and has eight winners from 14 runners. This gives him a strike-rate of 57 per cent and makes him the man to follow at their meeting on Sunday. We’ve combined three of his five runners on Sunday into a fascinating treble. Jimmy Du Seuil (11-8, Paddy Power) is a French import which cost €200,000 and it would be no surprise to see him get off the mark on hurdles and stable debut. He was runner-up in the second of his two bumper starts in France and Mullins can work his magic on him here. Paul Townend chooses this lad over stablemate Asian Master and he has five winners from seven rides here so far this season.
Fun Fun Fun (4-6, Paddy Power) was a smart bumper performer last season and won at Grade 2 level. She looked very smart when winning a maiden hurdle easily over course and distance last time out and this Listed race looks like a cracking opportunity to extend her unbeaten record over timber. The Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival looks like a reasonable target for later on in the season and she’ll need to be winning this if that is indeed the case.
Femme Magnifique (10-11, bet365) finished second on her sole start in an Irish point at Carrigarostig in January. She has since changed hands for £95,000 and makes her rules debut in the closing bumper here. There’s plenty to like about her pedigree and she’s expected to be right in the mix. A first career victory could very well be on the cards.
