3 Newcastle Betting Pointers – 263/1 Treble!

A sunset at Newcastle racecourse on 22/3/19

We might all be feeling a little flat after Enable’s defeat in the Arc yesterday, but fear not! A superstar in the making in the form of Pinatubo could well be returning to action this Saturday in the Dewhurst at Newmarket.

The Fillies’ Mile on Friday and the Cesarewitch the following day form part of a highly competitive week’s Horse Racing in which there’s plenty of All-Weather fare ahead of the winter months. Here are three betting pointers from Newcastle to hopefully start your week with a few winners!

In-Form Trainer

The North Yorkshire yard of Bryan Smart has sent two runners out in October, both of whom have won. His Wrenthorpe justified favouritism in easy style at Nottingham and Kentuckyconnection hacked up at this track at odds of 11/1.

Bidding for a three-timer, he sends Swiss Connection back to Newcastle at which he was beaten just a neck over today’s distance last time out. He was just collared in the closing stages by the re-opposing Gleaming Arch who had a more favourable higher draw.

Now a pound better off with that rival and drawn closer to the rail, he looks more than capable of exacting his revenge for a yard who’ve had six winners at the track in 2019.

Course Specialist

Richard Guest’s Breathoffreshair has four wins to his name in thirty career starts. All of these have come at Newcastle from seventeen runs from marks in the 50s. He showed plenty at this venue two runs back when finishing second in first time blinkers over six furlongs.

The handicapper has dropped him two pounds for a poor run at Chelmsford last time out, a venue at which he’s far less at home. Now rated 46, he also has the added assistance of Harry Russell who claims a very valuable seven pounds.

His best form comes in the autumn and winter months so he’ll appreciate the changing seasons. Running from a basement mark at a venue at which he thrives, he looks overpriced in a field of runners struggling for form.

Top Jockey

Danny Tudhope has had a season to remember with four Royal Ascot winners and his highest tally of winners ever with 147. He might not win the Jockeys’ Championship but he’s almost certain to be the most successful rider at Newcastle this year.

He’s had 58 mounts at the north east venue, with seventeen of those scoring at a remarkable £18.31 profit to a £1 level stake. He has four rides at the track tonight with the biggest eye-catcher coming in the form of Jeffrey Harris.

Tudhope was onboard Jim Goldie’s four-year-old when he finished second at Musselburgh last time out. He’s been backed into favouritism in his last two starts so connections obviously have him spot on, and today looks a great chance for him to strike, now running off a two pound lower mark.

The treble can be backed at 263/1, best priced at time of writing. Make sure to take advantage of all our Horse Racing Tips, including our NAP Of The Day.
