Three days of high quality action on the Knavesmire in May, as key Oaks and Derby trials separate the pack ahead of the third and fourth classics of the season. We will have tips and racecards for all twenty-one races at York from 15th May to the 17th May.
The opening day of the meeting features the Duke Of York Stakes for sprinters, which is often used as a platform for Group 1 horses to get underway for the campaign. Harry Angel won the race last year with a view to a big season. As well as this, the Musidora Stakes is a key trial for the Oaks and takes place over a mile and a quarter.
Day two has the feature race of the whole festival, the Dante Stakes. Britain’s most recognised trial for the Derby has been won by some exceptional horses with Golden Horn being the last to do the double in 2015. In 2017, Permian was victorious in the Dante before Royal Ascot success and in 2018, Roaring Lion was the winner before going on to win four Group 1’s. So the race is always an important one with regards to the remainder of the season.
The third and final day has the Yorkshire Cup over a mile and six furlongs, which is one of the initial eight legs of the Stayers Million Series, followed by the Gold Cup, Goodwood Cup and Doncaster Cup.
