2.02 Sandown

Haddex Des Obeaux (14/1, bet365) finished third in the Tingle Creek over course and distance back in 2023 and was less than five lengths behind the winner that day. A return to that sort of form would surely give the nine-year-old a massive chance. Donald McCain’s gelding is down to a mark of 145 and the soft ground won’t be a problem.

3.10 Sandown

Spike Jones (22/1, bet365) may have been unfairly overlooked here, especially when considering his run at Cheltenham in December. He was a very close third that day and is back on the same mark now, so it would be unwise to rule out another big run. Conditional jockey Benjamin Macey gets a good tune out of him and he’s far from out of this.

3.30 Leopardstown

I Am Maximus (12/1, bet365) won the Grand National back in 2024 and ran a fine race last year to finish second. Aintree is probably the main goal but his latest effort in the Savills Chase suggests he’s capable of making the frame. Keeping on well to finish second that day, a similar effort will surely put him right in the mix here. It’s also interesting that Jack Kennedy has been booked to ride.
