18-1 Thyestes Chase Value Tip: ‘If he didn’t unseat rider, he may have won’ 🐎

Henry De Bromhead

Gordon Elliott and Willie Mullins have dominated the Thyestes Chase in recent years and both will have five runners in Thursday’s feature race at Gowran Park.

Interestingly, Paul Townend has opted to ride Franco De Port, who has been well beaten off at the top table in recent starts. However, he may well be well treated dropping into handicap company.

Last year’s winner Coko Beach is back for more and will be partnered by the imperious Davy Russell. He was pulled up last time out but Russell is in some form at the moment and connections will no doubt have targeted this race.

There may well be a horse in there that could upset the apple cart and it’s Henry de Bromhead who could be responsible. Let’s move on to Adrian Wall’s value tip for the Thyestes Chase.

3.05 Gowran Park

Admittedly, he has a very tough task from top weight but Chris’s Dream has a big each-way chance if he can stay on his feet or not make a silly mistake. Mark Walsh will take the ride as Rachael Blackmore has opted to ride Eklat De Rire.

I was very taken by how comfortably Chris’s Dream travelled in the Becher Chase at Aintree when last seen. Well backed on the day, he made a couple of jumping errors and one at the Canal Turn cost him the race where he unseated rider.

Up to that point, he was travelling well within him self from this mark of 162 and if he didn’t unseat rider, he may have won. I think he would have played a part in the finish.

It must be worth pointing out that although he has a sketchy profile, he is a high-class horse and was second in the Grade 1 Down Royal Champion Chase in 2020. If he can put it together here on ground he will love, he’s an each-way player.
