Full brother to Christmas who was a decent two-year-old last year; yard can ready them first time out; nice profile.

Libras Power

Analysis

Dominated from the front last time out and a 4lb rise may not be enough to prevent the follow up here.

Ice Cold In Alex silk

Ice Cold In Alex

Analysis

Tony The Gent finished a very good fourth in a big field at the Curragh before winning at this track last time out after being very well supported. However, ICE COLD IN ALEX kept on well to win at Leopardstown last time out, having won at the Curragh two runs prior. He can improve once again and make it two wins on the bounce.

Above Us Only Sky silk

Above Us Only Sky

Analysis

Lady Scathach failed to make it three wins at this track on the spin and this race may well catch her out once more. This gives ABOVE US ONLY SKY a perfect opportunity to improve on his second at Fairyhouse last time out and his new trainer appears to be getting the most out of his five-year-old.

Major Power silk

Major Power

Analysis

Doogan’s Warren is proving costly for followers having finished second three times in a row now and his trainer now applies a hood in order to try and seek some improvement. MAJOR POWER can take full advantage, having shown a good attitude to finish second at Dundalk on his penultimate run. He failed to justify favouritism last time out but he can make amends here.

Analysis

Doogan’s Warren is proving costly for followers having finished second three times in a row now and his trainer now applies a hood in order to try and seek some improvement. With our original selection Major Power now sadly a non-runner, it may pay to side with the Patrick Flynn trained WHATHARM. He ran a solid race last time out when 6th and has been dropped a pound by the handicapper for that run. With the Flynn stable in great form, with two winners from their last four runners, it’s interesting to see that he has been well supported this morning also.

Disappointed when sent off favourite at Dundalk latest but sets a clear standard having placed in a Group 2 last year.

Red Gerry silk

Red Gerry

Analysis

RED GERRY finished second on his last run at Navan to Blenheim Palace, who went on to finish a close second to Broome in the Derrinstown Stud Derby Trial, which makes the three-year-old the one to beat. If he can replicate that run, he shouldn’t have too many issues brushing his rivals aside.

Wargrave silk

Wargrave

Analysis

Broad Street was very impressive on his debut but that was over a year ago and he may well need this run after so long off the track. This is much tougher and WARGRAVE is very much the horse in form, having beat Basic Law on his return before running admirably in a Listed race and Group 2 level.

Tips for Gowran Park Races

Located in County Kilkenny, Ireland, the first meeting took place at Gowran Park in 1914, with the first ever racecourse commentary in Ireland taking place in 1952. It hosts both National Hunt and Flat racing throughout the year.

Course: It’s a right-handed oval of a mile and a half with some undulations. It is galloping in nature and the ground can become quite testing, which puts the emphasis on stamina, especially in long distance National Hunt races. The final three furlongs are uphill meaning it can be quite difficult to make up ground, so we want our tips to be prominent going into the home straight.

Draw Bias: There is no draw bias for our tips to consider.

Feature Races: A number of high quality graded races take place over obstacles at Gowran Park. The Galmoy Hurdle, Red Mills Chase and the Gowran Park Champion Chase are all Grade 2’s. In January they have the Thyestes Chase which is a high quality staying handicap won in the past by top horses such as Hedgehunter, Numbersixvalverde and Djakadam.
