.20pm Catterick Tips & Betting Preview 13/12/2016

A good race is in prospect as 7 Novice Chasers go to post for the 4th race of the day at Catterick, see our betting tips and the full race preview below.

IN SUMMARY: One Track Mind is surely better than what he showed on Chase debut, but is a huge risk after that poor display and preference is for WORK IN PROGRESS. He was no match for a useful Alan King recruit on chase debut but is now at a trip that should suit, and if being handed a soft lead which he is likely to get he will be dangerous from the front if having improved his jumping.

BANNY’S LAD – Winner over hurdles and a triple point-to-point winner but was soundly beaten on his only chase start to date which was on debut back in April 2015 at Sedgefield (2m3f, Good to Soft). Has a lot to find on hurdles form and probably best watched today.

DELUSIONSOFGRANDEUR – Hurdles winner and although 4th of 5 on both chase starts thus far he has been far from disgraced, latest when running well for a long way at Kelso latest (2m7f, Good to soft). Should run well again but probably needs more for win purposes.

GULLY’S EDGE – Won twice on soft ground over hurdles but has been thoroughly disappointing over fences thus far, latest when a poor 3rd of 6 at Newcastle and the last finisher (2m7f, Soft). Probably vulnerable today and won’t be getting the softer ground he wants today.

NEEDLESS SHOUTING – Form was slowly diminishing over hurdles and last seen in November unseating the rider at the 3rd fence at Catterick (2m3f, Good). Very stiff task on chase debut and doesn’t make much appeal.

ONE TRACK MIND – Very smart hurdler who won the Champions Stayers Hurdle Grade 1 at Punchestown back in April (3m Yielding) but was far from convincing when last in a Grade 2 at Newbury last month (2m3f, Good to Soft). Never jumped with any fluency after a very bad blunder at the 1st and never involved, and although he should be capable of much better he is a huge risk.

VINTAGE CLOUDS – Useful hurdler at his best and hasn’t been disgraced over fences thus far, latest when 2nd at Haydock back in November (2m5f, Soft). Won’t be far away if improving on that effort and has to be respected.

WORK IN PROGRESS – Front runner who was no match for a ready Alan King winner at Catterick back in November (2m3f, Good), but that was a solid effort on chase debut and should come on for that run. Should get a soft lead which will help hugely and this new trip should also suit, so has to be considered a huge threat for the inform Skelton team.
