Wednesday’s angles: Key jockey stat, British runners at Naas and the race of the day
There’s a jockey at Lingfield on Wednesday with a perfect record on the turf track and the rider in question is set to partner with just one horse. Naas hosts a couple of Listed contests in the evening and the Yeomanstown Stud Irish EBF Stakes is the better of the two. The Irish track also plays host two a couple of British raiders, so we’ve assessed their chances of coming out on top. Apprentice jockey is 3/3 at Lingfield
Myla Coppins is a 7lb claimer with a perfect record on the turf at Lingfield during her career so far. it could therefore be significant that she heads there on Wednesday for just one ride.
The Craftymaster bolted up with Coppins on board at Wolverhampton on his penultimate start and the duo weren’t beaten far when second by a neck over the same course and distance last time out. This son of Master Carpenter is clearly in good form of late and should be bang in the mix once again.
British raiders head to Naas
There are three British-trained runners in the Marwell Stakes and Karl Burke’s runner Tropical Crown was a comfortable winner at Beverley on debut. Perhaps there’s more to come from her, whilst Silent Beauty has a bit to find on the evidence of her effort at Royal Ascot last time.
Shimmering Sun wasn’t disgraced when seventh behind Victorious in the Queen Mary and with that in mind, Harry Eustace’s two-year-old is entitled to be in the mix.
Coconut Cove represents Roger Varian in the next race and she was last seen finishing second in a 5f Listed contest, which suggests she’s not a million miles away. Soul Love Burke’s second runner and having finished third in a Group 3 last time out, winning at this level shouldn’t be beyond her.
Race of the day
The Irish EBF Stakes is a wide-open affair and the previously mentioned British raider Soul Love brings a good level of form to the table. Ger Lyons’ Chantez goes down to 6f for the first time and that could be an interesting move, having run well enough in a 7f Group 3 last time out.
Joseph O’Brien is in flying form at the moment and he runs the improving Dancing Saxon, who landed a rated race on her last start. Treasure Rose has won back-to-back starts in handicaps but will need to find another level here. Sarahmae is also stepping up to Listed level and has the scope to improve.
