Roger Varian’s Al Azd has produced a fair level of form in two starts over 1m4f and he was a comfortable winner at Doncaster back in April. Denied by half-a-length when second in a Royal Ascot handicap last time out, he should be up to winning a race of this stature.

Charlie Appleby is operating at a very healthy strike-rate at the moment and his juveniles tend to thrive at this time of year. Sorrengail kept on to finish fourth, despite getting off to a slow start on debut, and the daughter of Wootton Bassett should improve for the experience.

Diamond Rain is clearly the best horse in this race on the evidence of all known form. She is a Group 3 winner and also managed to place in the Breeders’ Cup Filly & Mare Turf last year. A short head from winning at Newcastle when last seen, she can go one better this time around.

Friday Win Lucky 15 Tip
Synergism has turned a corner since being sent over staying trips and he won three times last including, including two victories over two miles. Third in a good race at Newcastle when last seen, this race looks a little easier and he reappears off the same mark.
Paradise Walk remains lightly raced, especially in handicap company, and she’s progressing ell in this sphere. She landed a 6f maiden at Windsor on her penultimate start and the drop back to 5f made no difference in a Nottingham handicap last time out. Further progress is anticipated.
Roger Fell’s Alpha Capture has been in good form of late and the six-year-old returned to winning ways over this trip at Doncaster back in June. He was second by a short head last time out and should be in the mix once again, despite another 3lb rise.
Rogue Empire is in the form of his life at the moment and the four-year-old completed his hat-trick with a comfortable success at Lingfield last month. The handicapper has responded with an 8lb rise but that might not be enough to stop him.

Friday Each-Way Double Tip
Treasurer was fourth on debut at Nottingham back in May and wasn’t disgraced when finishing in mid-division in the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot. Charlie Fellowes’ colt got off the mark in a Salisbury novice last time out and is entitled to be competitive in this grade.
Tex came very close to getting off the mark when finishing second by half-a-length off this mark at Leicester in May. A similar effort would give him every chance here, now back down to the same mark, and he looks capable of winning races sooner or later.
