Christmas is now just around the corner, and with it, comes a feast of racing action – all of which will be covered by our free horse racing tips.

Here, we have taken a closer look at the ‘Christmas Battles’ in prospect, with the likes of Cyrname v Lostintranslation, Kemboy v Presenting Percy and Samcro v Faugheen – but to name a few – all to whet the appetite.

A verdict on each battle has been produced by our Joe Eccles, which when combined, creates an eye-catching 315/1 accumulator – read his views below.

Cyrname v Lostintranslation

No better place to start than with the King George VI Chase at Kempton, where a clash of the titans is in prospect between with the rapidly improving duo Cyrname and Lostintranslation.

The former is officially rated four pounds superior to Colin Tizzard’s charge, but with his stamina still to prove over the three-mile distance, the safe play is to stick with Lostintranslation.

Laurina v Fakir D’oudairies

An absolute belter here with two of the most exciting novice chasers in Ireland – Laurina and Fakir D’oudairies – set to contest the Grade 1 Racing Post Novice Chase at Leopardstown.

With weight allowances on their side, this looks a match between the two, and on the back of a very impressive beginners’ chase win at Gowran last month, the Willie Mullins-trained Laurina is taken to land the spoils here.

Samcro v Faugheen

An absolute cracker here with the much-hyped Samcro taking on the 2015 Champion Hurdle winner Faugheen in the Grade 1 Matchbook Betting Exchange Novice Chase at Limerick.

The latter got the job done on his chase debut at Punchestown last month – despite a few notable jumping errors – and his fencing technique is sure to be put under greater examination here by the aforementioned Samcro, who is backed to give trainer Gordon Elliott his third straight win in this event.

Abacadabras v Blue Sari

The Cheltenham Champion Bumper fourth and second – Abacadabras and Blue Sari – look set to fight it out in the Grade 1 Paddy Power Future Champions Novice Hurdle at Leopardstown on Friday.

With Abacadabras’s stablemate Envoi Allen – more on him later – set to bypass this race, he currently holds favouritism, and with more hurdling experience on his side can reverse that Cheltenham form and break Willie Mullins’s recent stranglehold on this contest.

Kemboy v Presenting Percy

A fascinating battle in prospect in Friday’s Savills Chase between two of last season’s staying chase stars Kemboy and Presenting Percy.

Despite an interrupted start to his campaign, it’s the former who currently holds market supremacy, but there were plenty of positives to be taken from Presenting Percy’s reappearance in the John Durkan earlier this month, and now back up in distance, he rates as the one to beat.

Klassical Dream v Coeur Sublime

The legendary Hurricane Fly won the Grade 1 Matheson Hurdle four times between 2010-2014, and two unexposed hurdlers Klassical Dream and Coeur Sublime look the two to focus on in this year’s renewal.

The duo had very different starts to their respective campaigns, but with the benefit of a run under his belt – it’s Klassical Dream who looks the one to side with next week.

Envoi Allen v Longhouse Poet

Just as the ‘January blues’ are beginning to kick in, we have the Lawlor’s Of Naas Novice Hurdle to view – which should provide us with another opportunity to see the new National Hunt poster boy Envoi Allen in action, with the main danger to the six-year-old’s current unbeaten record likely to come from the Martin Brassil-trained Longhouse Poet.

Both are very exciting hurdling prospects, but with the step up to 2m4f – if anything – looking a plus for Envoi Allen’s chances, he is taken to gain another Grade 1 victory.
