Having developed an interest in racing whilst in college some years ago, James has worked in many areas of the industry, including a stint hiding his face on radio! From 2008 until 2017, he ran a successful tipping service and has had shares in numerous horses including the wonderful Fast Shot. Unsurprisingly given some of the horses he has bought shares in, his punting passions lie in sprint handicaps on both the turf and All-Weather surfaces!

October yielded at 16pt profit for the Value Bets column. View today’s selections below.

7:30 Newcastle – Silver Dust – 1pt @ 22/1

There’s a bit of speculation involved when it comes to backing SILVER DUST as he’s a lightly-raced 3-year-old with no previous on an artificial surface. He did, however, shape better than the figures would suggest over a mile at Ayr last time on just his second handicap outing, keeping on into a respectable position before meeting interference. Back in trip to 7f on a straight track could help matters and we’ve not got to see the best of him yet. In a wide-open race, he looks overpriced at 22/1.

8:00 Newcastle – Kibaar – 1pt @ 16/1

KIBAAR is not the easiest horse to win with, as his 5-53 record shows, but there are races in him when operating at these lowly levels and he’s now 5lb lower in the weights compared to his comfortable C&D win last September. There were signs of a revival when he finished fifth at Kempton last time also, not helped by his draw, missing the break and the nature of a sharp, turning track. Coming back here will play to his strengths and gate 11 isn’t a bad stall to emerge from either. He could go well.
