Travel costs are always on the rise so trainers can be forgiven for sticking to more local tracks. The Cola Brasil (4/1, bet365) has been around the block a few times and the nine-year-old has 36 starts and three wins to his name. Two of those wins have come on grass but his turf mark is actually lower than his all-weather rating.
Connections might be able to exploit that and he has shown enough in four starts for this yard to suggest a return to winning ways isn’t out of the question. Second under today’s jockey at Wolverhampton in March, he should be competitive off 9lb lower, upon returning to the turf.
Valiancy (1/4, bet365) goes in the 1m3f maiden and the son of Cracksman looked in need of the experience when finishing seventh on debut. He looked very green throughout the race and it was immediately obvious that there was more to come.
It was a much better display when upped to 1m4f at Haydock after that, finishing second by half-a-length, despite getting off to a slow start once again. Perhaps weakening slightly at the finish, the slight drop back in trip certainly isn’t a negative and he’s going the right way.
