Real Madrid v Shaktar – Madrid to score over 2.5 goals

Shaktar aren’t all that bad of a side, they sit top of the Ukrainian Premier and are pretty dominant domestically; however, a visit to the Bernabeu presents a whole new challenge. Madrid have opened their home account for the season in good style, scoring 10 goals from their first two games, and quite simply, should prove too good for the Ukrainians here. With an overwhelming amount of firepower are their disposal, Real look a good bet to kick off their UCL campaign by scoring at least 3 goals tonight.

Benfica v FC Astana – Benfica to score over 1.5 goals

This would appear to be a guilt edged opportunity for Benfica to make a winning start in Europe. And, while they may be a little too short for the win, the bet for them to score over 1.5 goals represents better value. The Kazakhstan side scraped through their play-off tie against APOEL of Cyprus, and although going well in their own league, it is highly likely that they will come unstuck here tonight. The hosts have notched in 13 goals in their last 3 home matches and in all honesty it would be a bit of a disappointment if they weren’t able to find the net on at least a couple of occasions here.

PSG v Malmo – PSG to score over 2.5 goals

Like the first two, this one looks a bit of a miss match on paper. PSG are usually one of the competitions better sides, particularly at home. The travelling side from Sweden – having edged past Celtic 4-3 in their play-off tie – are unlikely to provide too stiff a test, having conceded 8 goals in their previous 5 away games. PSG have started their domestic campaign in reasonable form, scoring 6 from their opening 3 home games, and it would be no surprise if they were to take it up a notch by registering an impressive victory tonight.

Galatasary v Atletico Madrid – Atletico Madrid to win

A little different from the first three selections here, as an away win looks on the cards. As has been the case over the last couple of seasons, Atletico look one of the toughest sides around, and having added extra firepower in the form of Jackson Martinez and Luciano Vietto, are unlikely to be short of goals either. Having won both of their away games so far this season (without conceding a goal) they look a good bet to take the 3 points in Turkey tonight. Galatasaray haven’t been at their best recently, and are without a win at home in their last two. Unless they really step things up tonight, it wouldn’t be at all surprising if they suffer a third successive defeat on home soil.
