Willy Twiston-Davies joined his father Nigel on the training license at the start of the current National Hunt season and they’ve had two winners from two runners at Worcester since. With that in mind, the fact that the pair send just one runner to the track on Wednesday could be interesting. Intosomethinggood had a patchy record in bumpers last term but he showed potential when finishing third in a Ludlow bumper on debut. Very poor at Wincanton after that, he then went on to place in a Listed contest at Cheltenham. The winner let the form down next time but the runner-up did when his next start.
His first run over hurdles came at Chepstow in January and it was a concerning performance. Losing his head and pulling hard, he ran out with just under a circuit to go. A return to bumpers was next on the agenda and he was well beaten at Fairyhouse in the spring.
This son of Dragon Dancer went back over hurdles last month and took a huge step forward to get off the mark over course and distance. Improvement will be needed now carrying a penalty but you certainly wouldn’t want to rule him out.
All four of his rivals have won over hurdles previously and it’s a surprisingly warm race for the time of year. The yard have only had four runners in the last fortnight, one of which has won, and there could be more to come from this gelding.
