Trainer who has won with three of their last five runners has sole Monday entry

Pontefract races

Although the British flat season has officially come to an end, a new week kicks off with four flat meetings. Plumpton is the sole jump’s card on Monday, with Bath, Pontefract, Gowran Park and Wolverhampton rounding out the action. We’ll have horse racing tips for all five, including a NAP of the Day.

One trainer who is enjoying a purple patch is the Lancashire-based Stella Barclay. She’s won with three of her last five runners, with winners at prices of 50-1, 9-2 and 6-1. All her runners need close attention at present and she has just a sole entry on Monday at Pontefract. It’s currently priced 11-1 and you can find all the details below.

5.15 Pontefract – Racing TV Club Day Handicap

The runner in question is Glorious Rio, a four-year-old who is transforming into a five-furlong specialist for Barclay. He’s shown remarkable progress since dropping to this distance, winning on five occasions and posting overall form figures of 13111271. He gained that most recent victory at Newcastle and he did so in comfortable fashion.

Well-backed on the day, he travelled well into the contest and when asked for an effort, he quickened up smartly and won going away. He’s now seven pounds higher, but he remains unexposed over this distance and further improvement is more than plausible.

The race should play out to suit too, with this fourteen-runner handicap almost certain to be run at a true gallop. He will need the pace to collapse, given that Pontefract can be a front-runners track, but that scenario is more than plausible. Jonny Peate’s seven-pound claim will once again prove crucial and he’s a brilliant each-way candidate.
