Trainer/Jockey with a £52.75 profit at Southwell in the last year team up for 1 runner on Thursday

Southwell Racecourse

It can be a marmite track for some but the Fibresand surface at Southwell favours course specialists. In the last twelve months Karl Burke has had twenty-seven runners at the track ridden by Clifford Lee, producing nine winners at a 33% strike rate. Not only that but they have produced a massive +£52.75 level stakes profit in that time.

Their record in 2020 alone reads 8/21 for a +£31.75 profit so, they are clearly a partnership who need following at Southwell. On Thursday afternoon, they team up for just one runner in the 2.10pm contest, a Class 4 handicap over seven furlongs.

Our free horse racing tips have been in flying form in the last week and with the Ladbrokes Carnival on the horizon at the weekend, it’s time for the action to step up a notch.

1.20 – Bombadier British-hopped Amber beer Handicap

At first glance, it might look like just a run of the mill handicap on a November midweek meeting. However, knowing the above record of Karl Burke and Clifford Lee when they combine, it makes Gravity Force a hard horse to ignore.

A winner over course and distance on his only previous visit to Southwell, he has made another step forward since then, back on the turf. Connections clearly have him in great heart again, fourth in a Group 3 in November 2019 when beaten just four and a half lengths. A return to that form would make his current mark of 82 look very tempting.

Still a relatively unexposed three-year-old, it’s easy to imagine that there is plenty more in the tank in terms of progression from this gelding. He could easily be one to keep onside over the winter on the Fibresand here.
