‘The bookies won’t want this to land’ – 16-1 Willie Mullins Cheltenham Festival acca

Willie Mullins after a six-timer at Punchestown

Willie Mullins has dominated the Cheltenham Festival in recent years and there’s no reason to expect that to change this time around. The Irish trainer already has numerous favourites which the bookies will be having nightmares about and his five best chances form a 16-1 accumulator with William Hill. It’s fair to say the bookies won’t want this to land! Why not check out our free tips page for daily content across British and Irish racing.

Supreme Novices’ Hurdle

Ballyburn (10-11, William Hill) has recently gone odds-on for the opening race of the Festival and it would be a terrible start for the bookies if he was to line up. This horse won his maiden hurdle by a very wide margin and was very impressive when scoring in Grade 1 company over two miles last time. He’s a touch too keen which may persuade connections to go for this rather than the Baring Bingham.

Mares’ Hurdle

Lossiemouth (8-13, William Hill) was hugely impressive on her first start of the season over two miles at Cheltenham last time out and proved herself to be way ahead the very smart Love Envoi. It’s very telling that the next three horses in the market are her stablemates and she could very well be the pick of the bunch.

Champion Chase

El Fabiolo (2-5, William Hill) would be considered a banker for most people and it’s easy to see why. He dominated Jonbon in the Arkle last year and was an impressive winner at Leopardstown last time out. The sky’s the limit for this seven-year-old and he should prove very hard to beat.

Gold Cup

Galopin Des Champs (1-1, William Hill) was the runaway winner of this race in 2023 and it would take a monstrous performance to beat him this time around. His last two runs have indicated that he’s back to his best and the rest of the field have plenty to find in order to even get close.

Mares’ Chase

Dino Blue (1-1) has been impressing her trainer recently and he was surprised that El Fabiolo managed to beat her so comfortably last time. That horse is a machine though and Dino Blue is by far the best horse in this race. Her pedigree suggests the trip will be fine and she’s unlikely to be far away.
