The biggest Saturday on the horse racing calendar is here folks – yes, it’s Aintree Grand National day and there’s plenty to get excited about.

Will last year’s hero – Tiger Roll – become the first horse since Red Rum (1974) to defend his National title, or maybe the 2017 winner – One For Arthur – can win back his crown?

We’ll know by around 5:30pm if these recent champions can do the business again, or if we’ll be welcoming a new name to the Grand National hall of fame.

2.25 Aintree: The Nicky Henderson yard have a 23% record with their hurdlers at the track and have won this race twice since 2011.

3.00 Aintree: Trainer Henry De Bromhead has won two of the last six runnings.

3.40 Aintree: Owner Dai Walters and trainer Nicky Henderson have won this race twice since 2014.

4.20 Aintree: The Philip Hobbs yard have landed this prize three times 2010, while jockey Richard Johnson has four wins since 2010 (three for Hobbs).

2.05 Newcastle: Black Kettle landed this race last year and is bidding to follow-up off a two pound lower rating.

4.30 Newcastle: The Rebecca Menzies-trained Pain Au Chocolat won this race last year and is now rated two pounds lower.


2.00 Lingfield: The Jean-Rene Auray yard has a 36% (4-from-11) record with their four-year-olds or older at the track.


6.05 Chepstow: The Paul Nicholls (47%) yard has an excellent record with their NH Flat runners at the course.


1.40 Leopardstown: Trainer Ger Lyons has won two of the last four runnings.

2.10 Leopardstown: The Aidan O’Brien yard have won the last three renewals.

4.25 Leopardstown: Trainer Jim Bolger has won three of the last six renewals.
