Nigel Twiston-Davies: My Weekend’s Runners – 2nd April 2016

Nigel Twiston-Davies has horses running all over the country this weekend and as part of his new weekly column he’s shared his views exclusively with myracing.com about their chances.

To start with: we can exclusively reveal that leading novice chaser Bristol De Mai will NOT be running at Aintree this week as the ground appears to be drying out and there is no rain forecast. The new plan is Ayr the following weekend, again assuming he gets his preferred going. As for the Aintree team, they all put in their last serious piece of work this morning and everything is hunky dory, The New One looks in great nick and Nigel is excited about him, while both Blaklion and Ballyandy remain in target for their respective races as they look to follow up their Cheltenham successes.

Nigel’s Charity Bet

If he wins, a donation of £125 will be sent to the Injured Jockeys Fund.

Saturday’s Runners

Tour Des Champs 2.35pm Haydock

“Won the Sussex National last weekend at Plumpton by sixteen lengths and I am running him here carrying a penalty before he is re handicapped. He is bouncing at home and I have no worries about the quick return to the track, and am very happy with him ahead of this race.”

Another Frontier 3.10pm Uttoxeter

“He has done nothing wrong all season as far as I am concerned with some sound efforts and as he likes the heavy going he should be happy enough here. We are all looking forward to running him today.”

Deputy Commander 4.20pm Uttoxeter

“He is working as well as ever at home and I am hoping we have found a pretty weak race for him here, so fingers crossed for a decent run.”

Gulshanigans 5.25pm Newbury

“You never know what you are up against in these bumpers to be fair so it’s a tough one to call and it is his first ever race but we do like him a lot and think he has a future.”
