Nigel Twiston-Davies: My Weekend’s Runners – 26th March 2016

Nigel Twiston-Davies has horses running all over the country this weekend and as part of his new weekly column he’s shared his views exclusively with about their chances.

Saturday’s Runners

Hollow Blue Sky and Winged Crusader 3.10pm Haydock

“Hollow Blue Sky has won around here and should see out the trip well enough while Winged Crusader is a nice horse with a low weight – I honestly can’t split the pair of them who should both run well with a bit of luck.”

Thunder Sheik 3.45pm Haydock

“I’m hoping the rains stays away as he is a much better horse given some decent ground to race on. When he got that first time out at Kempton he won his first race over fences but has struggled on heavy and soft going since then, which is no surprise to me. The going is officially Good at present which will be ideal, and if it stays that way we are hoping for a big run.”

Valid Point 4.40pm Carlisle

“He really disappointed me in his last runs when pulled up at Leicester and had unseated when badly hampered the race before at Doncaster. The race before those two he beat Muckle Roe quite easily so he has got ability but this is a case of “suck it and see and although he could win we cannot be confident”

Gulshanigans 4.50pm Haydock

“A home bred son of Sakhee this bumper will be his first run and thus step one on a long learning curve – seems nice enough but will improve a lot from the experience”

Sunday’s Runners

Tour Des Champs 5.10pm Plumpton

“The Sussex National over this three and a half miles may yet bring out the best in him with Sam in the saddle. He stays well enough and jumps well enough which is what you need in these races so he ought to run a pretty decent race in the circumstances.”

Double Court 5.45pm Plumpton

Not one of the stable stars but then again this is not much of a race by the look of it so he would perhaps have a slim chance, though nothing more than that as he races from slightly out of the weights (has to carry more than his rating thanks to race conditions).”
