Nigel Twiston-Davies – My Runners 9th and 10th October 2016

We spoke to Nigel as always always this morning and he seemed in buoyant mood and has quite a few runners over the weekend. He wanted to tell us all about them so we had better get on with it!

Nigel’s Charity Bet

El Terremoto 3.50pm Chepstow 6/1

A £50 bet will be placed on the nose and any returns given to the Injured Jockeys Fund

Saturday’s Runners

Flying Angel 3.15pm Chepstow

“He couldn’t have been any more impressive when winning on his debut by an easy sixteen lengths, and he has certainly improved at home for the experience. He seems sure to go well and I am more than hopeful, but this is a much better race and there do appear to be some pretty decent rivals.”

El Terremoto 3.50pm Chepstow

“This will be his first run for me having arrived from France but I like him a lot and I think he could be pretty well handicapped this afternoon. My charity bet today which I really hope can win and at a decent price considering.”

Ballyoptic 4.25pm Chepstow

“He is one of my stable superstars to be fair and I will be disappointed if he fails to put up a bold showing but this is perhaps half a mile short of his best, which is an issue. His first real target for the season is at Wetherby but he needed a prep run first and what better option is there than to have a go at one worth plenty of prize money on the way.”

Little Jon 5.00pm Chepstow

“It’s a bit of an exploratory run this afternoon as we try him over three miles again to see if he really stays, which would open up a lot more options if he does. As a staying chaser I have him as fit as I can get him, but he may well improve for the run.”

Sunday’s Runners

Arthur Mc Bride 2.00pm Goodwood

“It’s his first time in a handicap and he hasn’t done a lot wrong so far with a second a third and another second, beaten by UAE Prince at Leicester last time and I’m told they think a bit of the winner. He has got top weight which is a bit harsh but I am pretty hopeful of a big run.”

Splash Of Ginge 4.00pm Chepstow

“He had a bit of a disappointing season last time around but I have given him a decent break and he seems a lot happier now and more like his old self. He has to carry more weight than he should this afternoon but is rated a long way short of his best, and I am hoping for a much better run.”

Double Ross 5.00pm Chepstow

“He is getting on a bit just like his trainer but now he is ten he gets in to these veteran events and generally speaking they can be a little bit easier to win. He has struggled in the handicap for a while now but I am quietly confident of a better run on Sunday afternoon.”

Twist On Ginge 6.00pm Chepstow

“He hasn’t done anything wrong with an acceptable seventh on his debut followed by a second at  Bangor in his two bumpers to date. He arrives here as the most proven runner in this contest but you can never tell in these races just how good his rivals might be.”
