Aintree this week, and it’s all systems go at the Twiston-Davies yard as you can imagine. We spoke to him this morning as he drove to Liverpool complete with horses (and jockeys) about the chances of his runners on Friday afternoon.
Nigel’s Charity Bet
Blaklion 2.50pm Aintree at 3/1
If he wins, a donation of £100.00 will be sent to the Injured Jockeys Fund.
Blaklion 2.50pm Aintree
“He came home in good heart after winning at Cheltenham and has had no issues since. He came out of the race well, the softer going today won’t inconvenience him at all and I feel he has an outstanding chance this afternoon of doubling up.”
Astracad, Minella Reception, and Ballyallan 4.05pm Aintree
“All three have chances and I honestly cannot decide between them today. They all jump well and should all handle these fences without any issues, but it’s a tough race to call and I cannot be confident.”
Ballyoptic 4.40pm Aintree
“We really like him at home and he is certainly improving race on race, though this is a big step up from the Class Four novices he has won so far at Uttoxeter and Ffos Las. We hope for a big run and won’t be losing faith regardless as we are convinced he has more wins in him in the years ahead. ”
Ballyandy 5.15pm Aintree
“It annoys me somewhat that he gets penalised for winning the Cheltenham bumper – after all, this is supposed to be a Championship race so surely it should be weight for age and nothing more. Having said that, I doubt the extra four pounds will be enough to stop him here and the long Aintree straight should be ideal for him – don’t forget he had trouble in running at Cheltenham and still won, and I feel he is currently the best bumper horse and am hoping he confirms that here.”
